ince 1877, St.
Mary's Home for Children has been caring for Rhode Island's children. From its
beginnings as an orphanage, St. Mary's has evolved into Rhode Island's largest,
most comprehensive treatment facility for boys and girls who may have been
traumatized by abuse, as well as those experiencing psychiatric and/or
emotional impacts. Children are treated and cared for in both the residential
treatment program located in North Providence and the outpatient facility, the
Shepherd Program, located in the Sophia Little Building in Cranston. Our
residential facilities provide temporary shelter, a special education school,
treatment for childhood psychiatric disorders and a therapeutic foster care
program. St. Mary's outpatient and home-based treatment program focus on
keeping families together in times of crisis through clinical intervention and
individual or group counseling.
St. Mary's Home for Children is a secular, non-profit institution with an
ongoing commitment to the care and treatment of children. Our focus is on the
support and preservation of families, with programs tailored to the diverse
requirements of our clients. Whether you are an individual whose child requires
special attention, a family interested in exploring adoption or foster care
opportunities, or a representative of a business or government agency, we
welcome you to our Web site and invite you to discover more about what our
services can do for you and the children you care about.
